The first song in three years from Colorado-based band Slow Caves, “The Run” presents a soaring rock appeal propelled by twangy guitar immersion and enjoyably dazed vocals. The track is described as “about running away from responsibility, and finding joy and comfort in the act of “The Run” itself.”
A palpable momentum shows throughout the atmospheric array of guitars, rhythms, and steady vocal consistency. “You’re my answer to the age-old question,” the vocals stir during a range of climactic, sporadic guitar pushes. A psych-friendly textural flourishing envelops in the ensuing bridge, with the twangy guitars and elongated vocals re-appearing seamlessly during the track’s final push.
“The Run” is a very welcome return for Slow Caves, who wrote “The Run” in 2018 and resurrected it last year, adding Bryan De Leon (The Drums, Albert Hammond Jr., Ethel Cain) on drums for the track.
