Present Paradox – “The Crack”

/

Impressing with a climactic intrigue, “The Crack” is a newly released single from Present Paradox, the project of Dortmund-based artist David Kleinekottmann. The track is part of the band’s upcoming album A Trace To Keep Control, out on May 17th via Timezone Records. Kleinekottmann’s dynamic vocal range spans from nonchalant introspection to a soaring captivation in the conclusion, complemented by wordless backing vocal spaciousness in crafting a riveting finale.

“The Crack” is exemplary of the aesthetical entrancement on the upcoming album, melding post-punk, Kraut-rock, and experimentation within thematic explorations of losing control and the challenges that arise from such. The initial vocal presentation reminds Scott Walker in its delectably eerie quivering. Whispered “what you said,” vocal hints combine with fragmented guitars into the gorgeous final minute, immersing with its textured atmospherics and rising vocal momentum amidst admittances of having “no clue how to fix the crack.” “The Crack” has us firmly anticipating A Trace To Keep Control.
