Maru Haru – “Realm of Lies”

/

Austin-based band Maru Haru showcase an anthemic stirring on new single “Realm of Lies,” exemplary of the band’s high-flying production — melding orchestral, folk, and rock elements for a resonating sound that drives from intriguing quaintness into impassioned fervency.

The opening vocals suggest an embrace for change, though also the tumult ahead: “The seasons change for the better, yet we brace ourselves for the weather.” Illuminated piano accompaniments lend a climatic briskness, escalating into a range of expressive strings and pit-pattering percussion; the momentum is palpable. The strings ascend with soaring majesty alongside emotive vocals, descending into woodwind and guitar interactions for a brief lushness. “Realm of Lies” captivates throughout with its escalating chamber-pop drive.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
