Eileen Allway – ‘Love Water’

/

An enthralling debut album from Los Angeles-based artist Eileen Allway, Love Water presents a range of impressive songwriting — from the dreamy synth-soaked yearning of “AtTheParty” to the gorgeously twangy rock soaring of the opening “Buddy,” whose “wanna make you fall in love,” soaring vocal passion leads a replay-inducing hook from the get-go. Chilling string arrangements follow, showcasing right away the penchant for atmospheric production and fulfilling melodic builds from Eileen Allway.

Allway crafted the album over the past two years whilst living throughout the country. “The production is deeply influenced and excited by all of these new places; there’s a little taste of each town in the tracks,” Allway says. The gentle piano tugs and dreamy vocals within “Death Valley” haunts with lyrical aspiration of wanting to “see the flowers,” in a quest to the valley, further indicative of atmospheric locale inspirations. The album’s closing title enamors as well, reminding of Mitski in its heartrending “hold my breath and fade to blue,” depictions alongside both folk-friendly contemplation and the rousing rock-minded rise. Love Water is a compelling success from Eileen Allway.

“Buddy” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
