Clauds – “Atomic”

/

Perth-based electro-pop artist Clauds concocts an otherworldly entrancement on new single “Atomic,” described as “an anthem for anyone who has ever felt like they’re battling against themselves.” Clauds’ releases show a tendency for gripping soundscapes and satiating tonal evolutions, and that continues with “Atomic.” Spacey synth intrigue falls into her “you manipulate me every time,” visceral vocal admittances, amidst a sporadic percussive pulse alongside the eerie synth tones. The overall soundscape and momentum-filled vocal prowess combine for a riveting production.

A heightened vocal pitch arises alongside a new synth line, with responsive vocal layers and the “I don’t wanna,” vocal build culminating in effervescent synth bursts and brisker percussive energy. “Atomic” balances atmospheric intrigue and melodic immediacy with tactful enticement, impressing in sections of both spacey minimalism and expansive pop fervency. “Atomic” is a fantastic, immersive standout track from Clauds.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Electronic.
