A stirring track that explores the impact of a bipolar diagnosis on personal relationships, “bipolar” comes via singer/songwriter Kevin Michael Duggan. The single, and others upcoming, precede a new album, releasing this coming September. “This song is about my bipolar diagnosis and how it affected my relationship at the time,” Duggan says. “Ultimately, it led to me seeking help for my condition and the decision to do it out of a relationship.”
The Abingdon, VA-based artist delivers an apologetic lyrical tone alongside gentle keys and assortments of acoustics and jangly guitars. “I wish I held you closer, instead I fucked you over, I wish my heart hadn’t of grown colder,” the vocals let out, rising into a resonating title-touting “I’m bipolar,” line with gorgeous guitar work past the three-minute turn. “bipolar” is a moving, intimate success from Duggan.
