Dejima – “It Was Nice To Have Met You”

///

A gorgeously evolving track that spans from dreamy introspection to ardent alt-rock exultation, “It Was Nice To Have Met You” is a newly released track from Dejima, representing the first single from the upcoming EP Swollen. The project is fronted by 20-year-old Kaveh Hodjat, who wrote, recorded, and produced everything heard within (in addition to mixing from Adam Thein and mastering from Jack Kennedy).

A hypnotic meshing of fluttering acoustics and twangy guitar chirps traverse blissfully into the soaring vocal presence. “It was nice,” the vocals let out, lyrically capturing a fateful meeting and ensuing sense of being smitten. A blast of blistering guitar distortion enters the final minute with enjoyable vigor, concluding the effort with a textured, hard-rocking allure. A dynamic structural evolution and serene initial spellbinding impress on this standout success from Dejima.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
