The gorgeously melodic “Out of Control” struts a dreamy, jangly engrossment — showcasing the hooky songwriting of Brooklyn-based artist Wayne Wei, and the newly released Cloud Chaser EP. Solemn guitars and keys assemble a psychedelic introduction, intriguing with its moody crawl. Playful synth pulses and guitar twangs complement Wei’s smooth vocal emergence, driving into a wholly delectable central hook.
“Round and round we go, fire fills my soul, out of control,” Wei sings amidst jangly guitars and a lushly reflective vocal backing, emitting a soulful take on jangle-pop — reminding fondly of Chinese Cherry. A suave guitar solo leads a seductive bridge, cohesively moving into a final title-touting hook and ensuing stripped-down finale. “Out of Control” is a beautiful showcase in songwriting and atmosphere from Wayne Wei.
