“Try” is the latest single from The Hollywood Freeway Ghosts, strutting a compelling rock sound chronicling a hopeful response to the feeling of one’s life unraveling. The project first caught our ears with “Flying” back in 2019.
Bursting guitars exude an initial charisma, as a bass-laden composure takes hold upon the vocals’ emergence. “Feel my life has come undone, got to get back into line,” they admit, contrasting one “standing in the summer sun,” and an aspiration to connect — and capture some of that sunlight. Heavier guitar pulses re-emerge thereafter, culminating in the spirited “how can I try again for you?” chorus — dazzling with a fun ’90s alt-rock and power-pop nostalgia. “Try” is another quality showing from The Hollywood Freeway Ghosts.
