Nashville-based five-piece Slow Animals impress on their recent single “Hearts of Flame,” strutting a dynamic appeal between grungy hard-rocking vigor and crisp rock momentum. Impressing last year with the tracks “Changing Tides” and “Bleedin’ Out,” the band continue to showcase a gripping rock intensity with their latest production.
The initial verses show a steady pulse, with a debonair post-punk movement traversing into smoother vocal stylings — reminiscent of Last Dinosaurs. The ensuing title-referencing ascension invigorates with its heavy guitar distortion and raspier vocal inflection, venturing with seamless cohesion from the head-nodding nonchalance of the verses. “Hearts of Flame” is further indication of Slow Animals’ knack for quality songwriting and strikingly successful tonal shifts.
