Ape Bucket – “It Is What It Is”

//

A free-flowing vocal charm and jangly guitar momentum exudes a hooky title-touting appeal on “It Is What Is Is,” a recent single from Ape Bucket. The project is that of Charbel Saikali, is a Lebanese-born experimental musician based in the SoCal/Los Angeles area. Psych-rock inspirations span from the late ’60s to 2010s for this exciting project, which on “It Is What It Is” compels with a seamless, escalating quality as twangy guitars, whirring synths, and evolving vocal passion becomes evident.

Plucky guitars and wavy synth lines traverse into a nonchalant vocal feeling. “She called about the other day, and all the things I didn’t say,” the verses let out, with the “dance in the light,” ensuing aspirations comprising a stellar bridge into the infectious, anthemic “it is what it is, don’t make it nothing more,” plea; this is a stellar, replay-inducing success from Ape Bucket.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
