Zach Schuh – “Blurry Pictures”

/

A smooth, late-night electro-pop appeal impresses on “Blurry Pictures,” a new single from California-based artist Zach Schuh. Spacey synth glistening lends a starry-eyed quality as a funk-touched bass line complements, guiding into Schuh’s caressing vocals. “Summer sweat feels so good when it falls down your shirt,” shifts from a daytime reminiscing into the “blurry nights,” fitting well within the nocturnal synth tones, which recalls throwback synth-pop in the vein of Pet Shop Boys — with the vocals and rhythmic suaveness lending a modern punch.

“Take a picture of this moment we have here,” the vocals plead, emphasizing the importance of seizing the moment before it vanishes. The “I just need,” vocal build into the glistening impact also conjures shades of Hot Chip. “Blurry Pictures” is a stylish, hooky electro-pop success from Zach Schuh, who helmed all aspects of recording from his bedroom. We’re excited to hear what’s next from this emerging artist.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
