Sprinter – “The Whip”

/

Australian band Sprinter blend hooky rock immediacy with psych-friendly intrigue on new single “The Whip.” Forming in 2022, the Perth-based act has built up momentum via praise from numerous singles, culminating in the recent release of their self-titled debut album. “The Whip” represents the final of five singles from the album. They add: “We saved this one for last because it’s gone down an absolute treat at headline shows and support slots for Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Los Bitchos and Frankie & the Witch Fingers.”

“The Whip” struts a debonair vocal lead and straight-cutting guitar progression to start, with a psych-forward flourish appearing intermittently. “It must be nice,” the vocals begin alongside a dash of spacey synths, and then into a fervent, higher-pitched guitar excitement. The final 20 seconds is especially riveting, merging various guitar lines with ample vigor to close this one out with raucously satiating allure.
