Samuel Blaney – “Paradise”

“Paradise” casts a lush folk mystique throughout, representing a standout track from Samuel Blaney. The Irish artist follows up his debut single “Ember” — and its conveying of winter-to-spring — with another thematic emphasis on transformation. Blaney explains: “‘Paradise’ is about gentle holding of fine threads. A cherishing of echoes. The fading and the glowing; Autumn.”

Gentle, contemplative folk music tends to feel most at home in the autumn weather, as falling leaves and quickly changing colors inspire a worldly perspective that extends beyond our own bubbles. The intertwining themes of “Ember” and “Paradise” combine with Blaney’s beautifully serene vocals presence and mingling acoustic layers.

The production from Adem features a steady build of guitars, with gentle string-laden undercurrents sending chills in the second half. Audibly conveying a sense of soul-searching on a rainy yet calm autumn afternoon, “Paradise” is another standout success from Samuel Blaney.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
