“Prototype” is a ravishing journey through wordless vocal lushness, crisp guitar lines, and spacey synth intrigue, showcasing a heady soundscape coming via the collaboration of Cologne-based artists millhope and Jenny Thiele. The effort marks the fourth of five singles from the forthcoming album Truth&Dare, releasing in spring 2024.
Whereas millhope — comprising Thomas Mühlhoff and drummer Alex Höffken — have dabbled in more high-energy EDM in the past, “Prototypes” compels with a more chilled-out demeanor. Thiele’s vocals add a weightless glow, concocting a consistently mellow engrossment. Hazy vocals, trickling guitars, and playful synths emerge with patient precision, as steady percussion and spacier synth inclinations emerge just prior to the one-minute turn.
Thiele’s vocals appear with sporadic enticement, flourishing with their lushly atmospheric immersion. Serene guitars add a subtle impact at points, culminating in a more jangly appeal alongside fluttering synths as the final minute approaches. “Prototype” is a delightful collaboration.
