Touting a mellow groove, “Constant Disappointment” is a new single from Faster Than Light. The Brooklyn-based project caught our ears last month with the single “Charm Squad,” as well.
Laid-back guitars and backing organs complement a debonair vocal presence, reminding fondly of Jerry Paper. “We’re all laughing at you, you can’t stomach it,” the vocals let out dryly, into a jazzy guitar sequence and the eventual title-touting hook. “It’s always on your side,” they sing of a seeming state of constant disappointment. The ethos — feeling motivational in a sense, in spurring change — compels alongside a range of mellow grooves and guitar-laden rises.
