A stirring rock sound enamors on “Drifter In The Sun,” the latest single from Dan Szyller. The effort represents the first single from Szyller’s upcoming album, THE GREAT ESCAPE. The Brazilian-born, France-based singer/songwriter takes inspiration from classic rock heroes like Iron Maiden, The Doors, Pink Floyd, and The Ramones, bridging throwback charm with a modern-minded synergy. Szyller has caught our ears previously with his debut full-length album, The Celestial Immigrant.
Twangy guitars swell into a thunderous wave of distortion. Szyller’s vocals then project a timeless-sounding quality, declaring “I’m a drifter in the sun.” Sporadic organs and the debonair vocal presence traverse into a compelling chorus: “Oh baby, when I see that ocean, I feel so blessed.” The soaring vocal and guitar work prove fitting amidst a lyrical composure, reflecting a sea-faring state of contemplation with palpable yearning: “I miss you bad.” “Drifter In The Sun” is another sturdy rock success from Dan Szyller.
