Impressing in its range of synth-laden contemplation and anthemic stirring, “With You” is the latest single from Milwaukee-based duo The Pulltops. Representing their sixth single so far this year, “With You” continues the band’s embrace of fusing nostalgic sounds of yesteryear with a modern punchiness. “With You” evolves with captivation from tender balladry into an ardent, hooky passion — continuing a very successful 2023, with previously featured tracks like “Better Life” and “Wide Awake.”
Understated synth-laden twinkling kicks off the track with mellow enticement, as vocals admit “I thought of you when I wasn’t expecting to.” Flourishing guitar plucks integrate seamlessly thereafter, reminding fondly of Erasure’s ’80s electro-acoustic melding. “We promised forever that we would be together,” the euphoric vocals emit in the spirited chorus, energizing with a hooky and spirited charisma.
