Pastel Blank – “Dopamine”

/

Victoria-based project Pastel Blank impress with the new single “Dopamine,” showcasing frontman Angus Watt’s melodic art-rock songwriting. The track marks the second single from their forthcoming debut album.

The “dopamine runs dry,” expanse into funk-laden brass plays with feverish, stylish engrossment — reminding enjoyably of Talking Heads with the sporadic vocal quivers and “up all night,” ethos. A suave guitar solo compels after the two-minute turn, adding further to the electrifying, debonair production. “Dopamine” is a quality offering from Pastel Blank.

“Dopamine” is described as “about the moment when you realize you’ve been flipping between apps like you’re checking an empty fridge for the 10th time, hoping to feed your receptors something that feels as good as the younger days of however long ago you picked up your phone.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
