Out today from Katsy Pline, “Guess I’m Always Leaving” is a heartfelt folk success commentating how “the years go by,” amidst dynamic vocal ranges and warming acoustics. The single releases alongside a music video, directed and edited by Simon Linsteadt. The track comes via Katsy Pline’s third album, Incandescent Fire, out September 22nd on Take a Turn Records.
The Berkeley, CA-based singer/songwriter enthralls with relatable lyrical pursuits, capturing “the changing of the season,” in various contexts — from friends moving away, to the seemingly inescapable looming of time. “I guess I’m always leaving,” the vocals shrug, following a pitch-heightened emotion. Subsequent verses reflect a desire for isolation and self-reflection — “wandered in the woods to find shelter from my grieving,” — while the title-touting refrain prove poignant in a portrayal of life’s perpetual movement.
