A hopeful folk-driven single with a beautifully serene disposition, “Better to You” comes via Elkvilla, the solo project of Australian singer/songwriter and producer Adam Dudek. The track represents the first release from the upcoming waterfall EP, fully self-produced and mixed in Dudek’s home studio.
“I am in the salt in your wound,” his vocals let out amidst gentle acoustics and light keys. “Hurting you is what I do.” The lyrics prove strongly memorable in their visceral descriptive metaphor, representing a relationship full of mutual pain — though also an expressed desire to stick through the tumult.
The title-touting hopefulness suggests aspirations to improve, rather than remain in a perpetual state of inflicting damage. Alongside Dudek’s serenely melodic vocals, laid-back acoustics, and eventual gorgeous string-laden infusions, “Better to You” achieves a resonating appeal.
