“Look at Me That Way” is a new track from Con Davison, a songwriter based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They describe the effort as “about my struggle to connect and understand my closest loved ones when life gets hard. It’s so easy to isolate and not make an effort when you’re going through some shit. It’s childish and I think LAMTW is my reminder to give it a go at trying to understand and empathize with people, and allow them to understand and empathize with me.”
“I don’t know what you want,” the vocals repeat with nonchalant immersion, joined thereafter by buzzing guitars into the “maybe somehow it’ll be all right,” soaring. A dreamier key-touched aesthetic compels in the following verses, again ascending climactically to the dynamic vocal effects into the next “all right,” hook. Debonair guitar stylings build into the reaffirming final minute, putting a bow on a melodic success that effectively conveys striving for connectivity and understanding within a relationship.
