A project from Portland, Oregon, Adult Male Blondes unveil a dynamic, enveloping sound throughout their new EP, Hudson Crush. The opener “ursus” succeeds in a nostalgic distortion-laden rock haze, while “good chips” tugs at the heart with its free-flowing psych-folk ruminations.
“good chips” develops with a patient precision. Quaint guitars and subtle percussion make for an understated appeal amidst sporadic vocals, assuming a steadier and expressive vocal presence in the second half, particularly upon the “make it better,” yearning. The EP engrosses with its quality songwriting and versatile rock/folk spanning.
