Prancing piano and stirring orchestral pushes feature throughout the latest single from Straight White Teeth, the Kansas City-based project fronted by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Patrick McGuire. “I Think I’m Gonna Love You For a Really Long Time” exudes a catching chamber-pop charm, set against lyrics that deftly portray the balance of igniting a new relationship while simultaneously still in the process of grieving a loss.
The “really, really long time,” vocal adoration into the perky piano-laden push exudes a pop briskness mixed with singer/songwriter charm, reminiscent of Jens Lekman in aesthetic. The wintry melodica bounces and symphonic backing combine with lushly melodic vocals for a riveting production, full of genuine emotion and free-flowing chamber-pop/folk eloquence.
The talented project first caught our ears last year with the single “Wanderer.”
