A spirited electro-pop track from Shadowbanned, “Wish The Dawn Away” is the latest success from the eclectic project; their past-featured 2022 EP, Summer Dream, showcased a dream-pop lushness. Producer/songwriter Chris Sizemore — originally from Nashville and now based in Manchester, UK — fully embraces a romantic-feeling synth-pop aesthetic here, also injecting ’80s-minded guitar lines in the satiating conclusion.
The track’s title-touting rise and amped-up percussion shifts into an arp-led series of verses. This contemplative “holding you all night,” musing drives into the “brings the dawn,” effervescence, fully kicking into gear around 01:40 as bright synth pulses emerge. “Wish The Dawn Away” is a melodic synth-pop throwback from Shadowbanned, bringing to mind acts like Pet Shop Boys and Erasure.
