A dreamy, emotional psychedelic allure lingers throughout “NIGHTBUS,” the debut official single from German artist Lyan Casper. He elaborates: “In this song, I explore the melancholy, which overcomes one like an oppressed ecstasy rush, that crawls down your back after the unfulfilled dream of desire & love and leaves you running in circles through the hot night.”
Hazy rhythmic escalations and twinkling piano engross in the scenic introduction, excelling into Casper’s gripping vocal presence. References to street lights further the nocturnal soundscape, as does the ghostly wordless vocal touches rounding the one-minute turn. “Spent too much time standing by the cliff, thinking what would happen if I slip,” he lets out during a sparser moment, building with rhythmic intensity into an impassioned vocal soaring thereafter. “NIGHTBUS” captures a sense of unease and mystique, felt whilst taking an enchanted ride on the night bus.
