Jamf – “Eclipses Will Pass”

/

A new single from Jamf, the project of AJ Matson, “Eclipses Will Pass” is a dynamic, satiating offering, spanning from folk-laden ruminations to raucous rock eruptions. Twangy acoustics and glistening keys assemble into a yearning vocal presence — “no one will call,” — and then an ensuing, anthemic rise. Here, the uptick in guitar-led energy and vocal passion makes for a replay-inducing appeal, wailing with emotive ferocity.

Matson wrote, recorded, and mixed the track by himself in his home studio, serving as the 4th of 5 songs on his EP. “It represents the 4th stage of grief, depression,” Matson says. “It mainly explores themes of sadness, hopelessness, social isolation, and regret through raw vocals, drums, and distorted guitars creating painful, beautifully ugly sounds. It finds perfection in its imperfections.”
