A replay-inducing success out today from Brighton (UK)-based trio Wild Horse, “Do You Wanna Talk” delivers a supremely melodic meshing of pop and rock. The band describes the effort — their fourth single so far this year — as “a summer anthem about an on-off relationship and all that comes with it.”
“Is it any wonder you unblocked my phone?” the vocals sing slyly to start off. The guitar-pop direction excels further into the “ooh,”-ing vocal touch, driving seamlessly into the beckoning title-touting hook. Slight underlying synths play enjoyably amidst the steady rhythm section, though the track’s irresistible melodic direction is largely propelled by the sharply effective vocals and twangy guitar delectability.
A higher-pitched vocal ascension stirs in the final sequence, adorned with twinkling piano for a harmoniously satiating send-off. “Do You Wanna Talk” is another standout from Wild Horse, whose 2023 continues to be scorching-hot with multiple successful singles.
