“They’ll Never Destroy Us” is a latest single from Vic Moon, a newly formed duo comprising Anna Schulze and Ryan Marshall. Both accomplished solo artists, their project grips here with a driving sound led by a deep, commanding vocal presence and pulsing synth/rhythm interplay.
The initially morose vocal feeling reminds fondly of The National. Percussive click-clacks and ominous synth-y swell adds grippingly to the soundscape, with the “never destroy,” segment stirring with the vigor-full guitar tones. The “this story won’t end,” refrain consumes further, with the spacious “they’ll never destroy us,” punctuation evolving into a raucously enjoyably guitar stomp. “They’ll Never Destroy Us” is an evolving, melodic success from Vic Moon.
