“Slow Up” is a melodic collaboration from NYC act Noshows and Los Angeles-based rapper AUD. The track is written and produced by Noshows’ Max Satow, who champions mental health causes with his founding of Magnify the Mind, a community that aims to help youth and others navigate anxiety via music and community pop-up events.
Funky guitars and synth warbles drives into suave vocal engrossment. “Everyone moving too fast, too slow,” the vocals let out, lamenting a sort of relatable anxiety with anxiety-soothing mantras like “chill out, what goes up must come down.” The ensuing aim — “let’s come back to the ground now,” — complements the funk-minded pop production well.
AUD’s captivating hip-hop entry struts a self-confidence amidst tender guitars: “See! I ain’t got time to waste, ‘cuz I am AUD… always groovin’ in my own space.” “Slow Up” dazzles in its dynamic production between funky pop and charismatic hip-hop. A moody, brass-tinted flavor leads a riveting finale to this stellar track.
