No Better Time is the new album from Dogface and the Pony Soldiers, a solo project based in Phoenix, Arizona. Sean McCauley’s songwriting excels with a melodic rock pull, often expanding from lush acoustic adornments into hooky rises. The album’s inspiration takes inspiration from the quest for peace and purpose, in a tumultuous and constantly shifting world.
“Fear is fading,” the vocals let out amidst jangly guitars on “Eyes Open.” “Fear, it binds me to myself.” This melodic sequence showcases a thematic strength throughout the release, focusing on personal introspection in the recognition of fear and anxiety as a result of personal and worldly crises. “No Better Time” also enamors, with a charmingly lush power-pop demeanor with shades of Teenage Fanclub; the “there is no better time,” hook is delectably replay-inducing.
No Better Time is a melodic and lyrically relatable display from Dogface and the Pony Soldiers. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Premier Studios in Phoenix by Jeremy Parker.
