Another lush dream-pop delight from Bubble Tea and Cigarettes, “Room 907” weaves twangy guitars and caressing synths alongside lyrics depicting a complex relationship. Per the Los Angeles-based duo: “The song describes falling deep in love with someone in an erotic relationship, but the partner never mentions his background, and is potentially abusing the protagonist’s affection.”
A steadier rhythmic pulse is evident compared to past efforts from the project, who continue further with their serenely intoxicating soundscapes. “I never learn from my mistake,” the vocals sigh, into a lonesome-sounding guitar line amidst a thumping bass pulse. The final minute converges the affecting vocals, fluttering guitars, and dazed synths for a hypnotically captivating punctuation.
