Victory Kicks – “One Twenty Four”

/

London-based act Victory Kicks caught our ears back in 2014 with the power-pop gem “Junior Code Course,” and now nearly a decade later they’re still churning out hooky successes. New single “One Twenty Four” is a certain indication of such, as are the other tracks on the newly released Human Rain Delay EP.

“One Twenty Four” finds songwriter and multi-instrumentalist John Sibley building from an initially quaint, hazy rock engrossment into a standout chorus. “In the morning, when I awake,” the vocals resonate in this replay-inducing hook, bolstered by dual-punch guitar twangs and heavy distorted pulses. The “for a moment,” bridge plays with charming allure in its vocal refrain and brighter guitar reflections. “One Twenty Four” is another successful entry from this melodic act.

Look for a forthcoming full-length, Free the Night, to release later this year from Victory Kicks.
