Hypnotic rocker “Year of the Rat” is a stellar single from Plastic Cactus. The Portland, OR-based band are prepping their debut full-length, and “Year of the Rat” represents its first single.
“It’s the year of the rat,” the opening vocals declare, smoothing into hazy guitar twangs and a bright organ underlying. A brassy component adds further to the mystique, gearing seamlessly back into the guitar/organ interplay thereafter. Grimy guitars ooze with melodic splendor past the two-minute turn, driving into a fulfilling finale. I’m certainly excited for the upcoming full-length.
