From the upcoming album Honey Locust (out on August 4th), “Magnolia” is a captivating folk single released today from Melanie A. Davis, an artist based in Murray, KY. Lyrical imagery of “magnolia blooms,” resonate in reflecting how memories can paint an overly optimistic glow. Davis’ enthralling vocals cast a breezy allure with an initial steadiness, rising into a quivering, spine-tingling expressiveness.
“It’s a look into the idea of nostalgia for hometowns (or things in general) that weren’t as beneficial to us as the memories might paint them to be,” Davis says of the track. The track’s mid-point ushers in twangy guitar bursts with the “I’m fine,” vocal reassurances. The tantalizing vocal emotion, steady acoustical backbone, and climactic guitar pulses concoct a spellbinding production amidst a poetic metaphorical lyrical grasp.
Davis will be releasing the album’s second single, “Lightbulb Stars,” along with a music video on July 12th. The album, Honey Locust, follows on August 4th.
