Kingfisher – “Stand Back In”

/

The latest track from Kingfisher, “Stand Back In” kicks off with thickly reverberating guitars and suave vocals, driving into the title-touting hook with soaring, psych-friendly allure. It’s another success from the trio, who impressed with “Until I Lose My Mind” in February.

The Uppsala-based trio put the track into motion a decade ago, when Julián crafted the main guitar riff. Nich and Affe later discovered a fitting drum groove, and from that point the track was born with spontaneity, “in a matter of minutes.” Anton Ånell contributes in the exciting bridge. The track carries the poignant message of longing for a missing friend, lost amidst the echoes of life.

To capture the essence of “Stand Back In,” Kingfisher ventured to photogenic Stockholm on a Saturday night to shoot their music video. With the permission of The Churchill’s Arms, a perfect backdrop was found. Check it out:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.
