Sadie – “Reach Out”

//

A darkly consuming rocker with a jangly post-punk edge, “Reach Out” is a standout single from Sadie. An eerie introduction, with nocturnal synths and a The Truman Show sample, drives seamlessly into driving guitar pulses and vocals that plead in asking “is this for love or just for show?”

An ensuing, ghostly escalation conjures a Jeff Buckley reminiscence. “Reach Out” excels in its moody stylistic savvy and compelling melodic direction. A heavy wave of guitars leads with invigorating qualities within the thrilling conclusion.

The track comes via the band’s upcoming EP, Static, releasing this summer. They note that the song “was inspired by The Truman Show and is about feeling dissociative from others & having the feeling that the life around you might not be real.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
