Recorded by the singer/songwriter/producer at home, “Soothsayer” expands quickly from sonar-like key pulses into lush guitars and organs. A vibrant vocal lead shows charisma. The one-minute turn sends chills with its caressing vocal layers and soaring guitar adorning. “With your ear to the pavement,” Jaewon sings. “It looks good on paper.”
More ardent guitar progressions and a hint of bossa-nova arrive in the delectable second half, showing shades of Todd Rundgren, Jefferson Starship, and other blasts of psychedelic pop and rock nostalgia.
