Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist franch struts a debonair, jangly pull on the new single “How Soon.” “Why don’t we skip to the ending?” the vocals ask, showing a brief vulnerability before the suavely enveloping “I won’t stand for this, I don’t give a shit,” remarking. A more soaring guitar character coincides with the “how soon?” refrain, further consuming into a series of delectably laid-back guitar progressions.
“How Soon” is another success from franch, who impressed with the track “Umbilical” in March.
franch elaborates on the track:
This song is inspired by transactional relationships we call intimacy. In our modern dating world, inundated by apps and the allure of increasingly more options, it seems anything close to the “real thing” is watered down in the big city (speaking from experience in LA at least). It’s about misunderstood expectations and what follows in that disconnect, positive and negative. Part of a larger body of titled “Shit People Called Friends and Fam”
