Floating Circles – “Snappy Dan”

/

The vibrantly expressive “Snappy Dan” is a memorable track from London-based band Floating Circles. The project emerged from the jazz scene, and has integrated an eclectic array of styles into their exciting production. World music, hip-hop, ambient, and beyond influence a sound exemplary of strong musicianship and climactic structural movements.

Previously on a three-year hiatus since their 2020 album Humble Travelers, Floating Circles returns with the forthcoming album Spectrums. “Snappy Dan” embraces the project’s further refinement, incorporating “Arabic-Jazz grooves” into its bustling production.

Quaint bass-laden beginnings are embraced by layers upon layers, starting with mellow guitar reflections and ascending into a wonderfully dizzying assortment of strings, woodwinds, and all-out feelings of spontaneity. Aptly, the track concludes much like it begins, with bass-ready rumblings expanding quickly into a perky blast of energy. “Snappy Dan” is full of energy and creativity.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2023’ Spotify playlist.
