London-based songwriter Brew and Los Angeles-based vocalist Deza craft an enamoring, lush pop sound on the single “Reset.” Sporadic piano pulses complement Deza’s vibrant vocals to start, with shifting percussion and synth flashes satiating fully. The “you’re just incredible,” line provides a brightly infectious burst alongside delicate piano glistening. “With a glint in your eye you bring out the best in me.”
Wordless vocal passion intertwines with fluidly caressing piano tones thereafter. Intermittent backing vocal work prove melodic and memorable. The “you’re just incredible,” hook re-emerges with further appeal, serving as a replay-inducing moment on this pleasing pop production, which manages a lo-fi piano-driven sentimentality alongside the vibrant vocal emotions. “Reset” is a lovely pop charmer from Brew and Deza.
“I wrote this song in the new year on my parents piano (hence the name ‘Reset’) and was thinking about the friends I’ve lost touch with over the years and how being in a long term relationship changes everything,” says Dave Cowen, the artist behind Brew. “I took inspiration from the Auld Lang Syne lyrics and used this as my starting point.”
