The Early Purple – “Summer Hide”

//

An enchanting folk sound with chamber-pop mystique emanates throughout “Summer Hide,” a beautiful single from The Early Purple, the solo project of UK-based artist Matt Saxon (Little Comets, The Dawdler). The opening “summer hide behind me,” sequence enamors with its hypnotic guitars and eventual percussive embrace, resembling a more expansive Fleet Foxes in tone. A lush symphonic textural engrossment lies beneath in sporadic fashion, re-appearing with graceful atmospheric precision throughout.

“Summer Hide” is the first track from The Early Purple’s debut EP, releasing on May 12th. The track, with its steady vocal drive and folk/chamber-pop integrations, make for a strongly memorable result that has me firmly anticipating the EP.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk.
