HIGHWAYVES – “PLASTIC”

/

A collective from Isle of Man, HIGHWAYVES deliver a heartfelt success with new single “PLASTIC.” A cathartic sound is propelled by anthemic alt-rock and hints of grunge, bolstering sincere lyrics that explore “the wrenching sadness of watching a friend lose interest in you,” per the band.

Bass-y thumps give way to vibrant guitar textures, exuding a strong atmospheric pull with the hazy underlying keys. “You’re looking for a way out,” the soft vocals admit, with twinkling keys punctuating the emotive line. “Holding your attention now is such a fucking effort,” they admit, with a lamenting angst. The sporadic guitar pulses and invigorated vocals strut an anthemic allure during the fantastic chorus, replay-inducing in its emotion and escalated melodic strengths.

HIGHWAYVES show their songwriting and production strengths with “PLASTIC,” which was mastered by Robin Schmidt (The 1975, Beabadoobee, Yungblud). Following the success of debut single “FRAME IT” and a spot opening for James Bay — and now with the resonating “PLASTIC” — it’s very apparent that HIGHWAYVES are on the ascent.
