Philadelphia-based quartet Close Drive compel with a caressing, twangy rock sound on their new track “Variegation.” Per the band, the effort thematically “looks on the stages of life that connects humans and nature together,” — releasing aptly in the springtime, as flowers, wildlife, and people all emerge into the flourishing renewal of nature.
Lush underlying acoustics and twangy guitars complement a calming vocal lead, expressing that “all my leaves are changing.” “You say it’s over,” they let out during the breezy and melodic chorus that ensues. A soaring vocal presence concludes the section with a serenely intoxicating glow. Multiple lyrical references to seasons changing resonate amidst the meditative blend of soaring vocal lushness and delectable guitar twangs.
Alongside producer Tyler Ripley, the band is at work on multiple releases, set to release throughout the year.
