With the colorful new track “Severed Hands,” Texas-based band The Ghost Party dig firmly into their ’60s psych-forward influences. Its themes “based on a recurring dream and about generally feeling ‘in between’,” “Severed Hands” hypnotizes with its dazed vocals, gentle guitar jangles, and lingering organs. A jumpy guitar line meshes with wordless, aptly ghostly vocals for a chilling effect, culminating in a gorgeously soaring guitar line that adds further to the mysterious sense of bliss-inducing nostalgia.
The band comprises singer-songwriter/guitarist McCullough Ferguson, drummer Victor Sanchez, and bass/keys player Kendrick Ballard. “Severed Hands” was produced by Khruangbin producer Steve Christensen.
