Shana Cleveland is an artist and songwriter from California. She has released five albums with the psychedelic indie band La Luz, and this Spring will see the release of her third solo album, Manzanita. Cleveland’s solo work mixes traditional folk convictions with gorgeously haunting psychedelia producing a sound somewhere between Devendra Banhart and Mazzy Star.
“Walking Through Morning Dew,” the latest single from Manzanita, showcases the delicate haziness of Cleveland’s voice, the proficiency of her guitar playing, and a penetrating lyricism that evokes a daydream-y seashore aliveness.
“This is a song about Spring and rebirth,” says Cleveland, “In California, Spring is the season when nature comes inside. The house is suddenly full of weird bugs. A line from this song encapsulates the album – ‘Everything is blindingly in bloom.’”
Manzanita releases on March 10th via Hardly Art.
