Mcclendon – “The Garden”

/

“The Garden” is a new track from Mcclendon, an artist whose sound meshes folk-inspired familiarity with modern production flourishes — particularly exceling in multi-layered vocal effects and synth-laden atmospherics. His Oklahoma upbringing brought about experiences in country, folk, and acoustic music, with further eclectic inspirations emerging in later years.

There’s a contemplative, nocturnal quality apparent in the initial verses, led by murky bass and buzzing guitars. The suave vocal presence adds further, exceling during the “I wait up, you go out,” bridge — culminating in the stellar “walk through the garden,” hook, where twinkling synth atmospherics add to the acoustical guitar additions.

“The Garden” represents the title track from Mcclendon’s upcoming album, releasing in May 2023. It was recorded primarily with Tommy Champion in their studios in Nashville and Brooklyn, NYC.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2023’ Spotify playlist.
