Sydney-based band Futureheaven debut in impressive form with the track “tides,” showing the act’s enveloping shoegaze sound. A heady wall of guitars is complemented by layers of dazed vocals, emitting an ethereal charm with MBV nostalgia. Further guitar shimmering adorns the escalated vocal presence during the “high tides,” sequence, punctuated by a soaring, textured guitar punch. “Not sure if I want to, not sure if I should,” the vocals let out, gearing into another gauzy, atmospheric shoegaze romp. “tides” is a standout debut from this rising act.
