Catching our ears last May with the synth-laden psych-rocker “Like This,” Dzasko succeeds with a spacey, synth-forward charm on his new track “Scorpio Rising.” Described as “a space ballad,” “Scorpio Rising” builds from gentle acoustics into an illuminating array of synths and psych-rock guitar glimpses.
A peppier rhythmic accompaniment, with pulsing bass and steady percussion, melds with acoustic guitars for a vibrant sequence past the one-minute turn. Dzasko’s vocals find even more satiating accompaniment at the mid-point, when spacey synth arps envelop alongside the shimmering instrumentation. “Scorpio Rising” continues to show Dzasko’s melodic strengths as a songwriter, here within a more synth-friendly sound that succeeds in its embrace of spacey soundscapes.
