A standout catchy debut single from Denver-based duo Sugar Nova, “Send Me Higher” infuses disco and funk with a contemporary electro-pop shine. Comprising Luke Miller (from electronic jam band Lotus) and singer Rachel Eisenstat, Sugar Nova sharply mesh dancefloor-friendly grooves with a nocturnal atmospheric intrigue, propelled by the “c’mon,” vocal pleading rising into the “let me take a trip with you,” vocal hook.
“‘Sugar Nova’ is so different from anything either of us has released before. Writing in the electronic space opened up an entirely fresh sonic palette,” Eisenstat explains. Miller adds: “With Sugar Nova, we were striving for fun danceable songs paired with beautiful floating moments. This song is a direct hit in both those areas.”
Club-ready bass pulsations and the title-touting vocal refrain inject ample charisma from the get-go. Clanging keys and developing percussion add to the dancefloor-ready momentum. The vocals and lyrics capture a sense of moment-induced euphoria, with the satiating “let me take a dip,” culmination inducing replays each go-around. Showing polished production, intoxicating rhythms, and confident vocal charisma, “Send Me Higher” is a stellar debut from Sugar Nova.
